This study determines the predictive accuracy of the Level of Service Inventory-Revised (LSI-R) as a general criminogenic risk instrument, and the Adult Substance Use Survey (ASUS) as a risk assessment tool for offenders with substance use problems. The objective is to validate the accuracy of the LSI-R and ASUS in specifying risk-classification levels for sentenced offenders in Hawaii. Pertinent criminogenic and substance use domains are evaluated for predictive validity, based on a two-year recidivism analysis.
