This validation study of the Level of Service Inventory-Revised (LSI-R) and the Adult Substance Use Survey (ASUS) determines the predictive accuracy of the LSI-R as a criminogenic risk instrument, and the ASUS as a risk assessment tool for offenders with substance use problems. The objective of this study is to validate the accuracy of the LSI-R and ASUS in specifying risk-classification levels for sentenced offenders in Hawaii. Pertinent criminogenic and substance use domains are evaluated for predictive validity, based on a two-year recidivism analysis.
